Parkour is a training discipline where participants focus on moving around and through obstacles to get without any equipment from one point to another. Parkour includes jumping, climbing, vaulting, running, swinging, rolling movements and any other movements as deemed most suitable to move in a complex environment in the fastest and most efficient way. Although parkour is mostly associated with acrobatics, it’s also closely related to tumbling and gymnastics, which incorporate elements used in parkour and lay the foundation for parkour training. As parkour has developed from military training it also has some aspects of a non-combative martial art.
Parkour is a unique activity that most of children will love. Both boys and girls are thrilled at the prospect of jumping and flipping off buildings and landmarks. Parkour involves seeing child’s environment in a new way, and develops kids’ imagination when they seek opportunities for navigating city landscapes by movement around, across, through, over and under its features. Parkour is also great in terms of problem solving, building endurance and pushing past limits.
